Both the Marine and Japanese Color Guard stand tall, rendering proper respect for both National Anthems at the Opening Ceremony during Forest Light 2000. Forest Light is a cultural enhancing, combined arms exercise in which Marines from 1ST Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment train with soldiers from the 44th Infantry Regiment, Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF). The units train side by side teaching each other various weapons systems, different tactical offenses and defenses, as well as close combat skillsBoth the Marine and Japanese Color Guard stand tall, rendering proper respect for both National Anthems at the Opening Ceremony during Forest Light 2000.
