Tallinn : St. Olav's Church
Oleviste church (St. Olav's church, first mentioned in 1267) is the largest medieval building in Tallinn. Completed in about 1500, the church steeple was claimed to reach the height of 159 meters, making it the tallest building in both the medieval Tallinn and medieval Europe. The reason to build a tall structure like this might have been the need for a maritime signpost.
