Developing robust pumps for geothermal energy. Modified submersible centrifugal pumps work more efficiently and can withstand mineral deposits for longer periods of time.
Systems for using deep geothermal energy need special pump systems. These are up to 36 meters long and weigh eight tonnes. They must be able to withstand high temperatures and high flow rates, as well as mineralrich water. Pumps for geothermal energy have been tested during several field tests and on the largest high-temperature test loop in the world, and have been significantly improved. The prototypes already fulfil the development goals to a large degree. By 2017, key components will have been further developed ready for serial production.
