Recipient to pour beer

Recipient to pour beerMeasuring jug with ear and spout made from stanniferous faience and pewter lid, used to pour exactly one liter of beer. This volume is mentioned on the front of the jug inside a flower garland. These kind of jugs were normally hallmarked to make this measurement official. In case of this kind of measuring jugs this would be only in the first year of use. This jug has no mark. This jug was made in Brussels and is part of the so called 'Vieux Bruxelles'. The peak of the production of beer jugs in Brussels was between the end of the eighteenth and mid nineteenth century, with three important workshops. It can not be ascribed with certainty to one of the three workshops.
